COMMENTERS: Hobbit viewing Fancy Bastards, how did you feel about Radagast’s portrayal in the movie? Too silly? Too covered in animal excrement? Or just silly enough and covered with the exact right amount of excrement? What about the other changes from the book? I liked that Gandalf tells everyone he believes The Nectromancer is “The Enemy.” The casual movie going audience probably wouldn’t make the connection since it isn’t explicitly stated in the book.

Giant Robits Vs. Water Kongs

That trailer… I mean, holy crap. Give a guy a chance to catch his breath. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t expect Pacific Rim to win any awards for compelling dialog or character development, but HOLY CRAP THAT TRAILER WHAT?!

COMMENTERS: Pacific Rim: Best movie or Bestest Movie? How could they fuck this up? I mean, seriously, anything is possible… so how are they going to fuck this up? Not enough giant robots? Too many fantastical extradimensional sea demons? Giant robot/sea demon love story subplot? It would still be better than Prometheus.

Unfortunate Furniture

I doubt Joss Whedon is the type to gloat, but I bet he had to be at least a little bit smug when ABC cancelled Weird Desk in favor of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Yeah! Who’s NOT getting cancelled now? Who’s the big, fancy ginger that directed a BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE?!” is probably the type of internal monologue Whedon was running as he gave his deepest, heartfelt condolences to the Weird Desk team. He probably also sent them a fruit basket.

COMMENTERS: The reason cited for canceling development of Weird Desk (seriously… Weird. Desk. Weird Desk? What the entire fuck?) was plot overlap with S.H.I.E.L.D. Those overlapping plot elements could pertain to Weird Desk‘s theme of WEIRD cases coming across a certain DESK (OK, I JUST got that), and be investigated by a team of agents. So is SHIELD basically an X-Filesy, Fringey sort of affair? Do you want a “monster of the week” thing going on in S.H.I.E.L.D or do we want the overarching plot mixed with standalone adventures in an expansive universe and intense character development that we expect from Joss?

Here’s a follow up to my previous Jack Reacher comic.

COMMENTERS: Apparently fans of the Jack Reacher books are upset that once of Reacher’s main traits is his imposing stature and physical presence. This is clearly a trait Tom Cruise doesn’t posses. Is there another actor that you feel was cast against the type of the (already established) character they played? Were you happy with the results?
