Emerald City Comicon 2014 Fancy Sketches

Oh sweet merciful crapbastards, Seattle, you are always so good to me. I am on an airplane (the kind in the sky) right now, so please enjoy these convention sketches in lieu of a comic update today. I had an amazing time with my wonderful friends and was, once again, showered with generosity from the Pacific Northwest Fancy Bastards.

If you would like to see some of what I was up to this weekend, please check my twitter feed for #ECCC and #ECCC2014.

See you next year, Emerald City!

Oh, and I ran out of most of my prints early on Sunday. If you weren’t able to get the HE print you wanted at the show, you can always get prints and posters in The HE Store

  1. Wish I could have made it to ECCC this time, but, being one who is from the PNW, this "Fancy Bastard" thanks you for visiting the PNW. Hope you come back soon!

  2. Hey Joel! I couldn't make it to Con this year, but my friend Chris Mowrer said he met you and told you about our webcomic The Sub-Basement. Hope you like it, and I hope I can make it next year!

  3. I love the idea that Darth Vader in that balloon hat is running for president of Crimea.
Or is it Ukraine? I lost track…

  4. Heh, those are some nice sketches!

Speaking of the Wheaton, has he or you requested your participation in an episode of Tabletop? It might be a good idea with a chance of Felicia Day also appearing with you

  5. Oh I saw something the other day you might be interested in. Someone noticed that when you chart Rapunzel's kingdom to Elsa's parents kingdom the route goes over where king triton's kingdom is and Ariel was exploring a sunken ship in the first little mermaid movie.

    • I saw the same thing, and while I don't think Disney intended this AT ALL, i would have ZERO qualms about them adopting this idea and building it into a Tangled sequel, at least as an Easter egg.

  6. Additional: I know you have a high threshold to Frozen and pain. So if you ever want to see how high that threshold is you should google Mr. Freeze sings Let It Go a music video of Batman and Robin's Mr. Freeze scenes with an Arnold Impersonator singing. For a slightly less painful much more metal parody you can look up Sub Zero Let It Go Parody.
