Calgary Expo 2012 Fancy Photo Comic Part 2

Guys, I fully understand that we ARE going to be destroyed by a terror from beyond the stars. I’m OK with that. All I ask is that our destroyer be a cutey-wooty snuggley button of doom. I feel like it’s a reasonable request.

Wil Wheaton and I got excited and made this “Fighting Time Lords” shirt for you!

Gallifrey University Fighting Time Lords Shirt - Doctor Who parody, geeky tees, funny t-shirts, nerdy shirts

These furthering adventures from Calgary Expo feature The Blind Ferret crew, specifically the be-balded, be-capped, be-lightsabered and ever be-Red Bulled Mr. Sohmer.  Exhibiting with these guys is exactly as much fun as it appears to be. Take that… however you will. One of these days you will probably get to see some of our adventures in full motion complete with audio and additional motion and probably some editing, since Will has been filming us since Emerald City ComiCon. I don’t know when or how the show/documentary/series/??? is going to be released, but from what I’ve seen so far I am in it. So that should be enough, right? I hear the pilot is coming along nicely and I’m sure they will make an official announcement when it’s ready for public consumption.

COMMENTERS: What’s the best geeky baby/kid costume you’ve ever seen? Ever make one for your own kids, or had one made for you as a kid? My wife and I have made our daughter’s Halloween costumes almost every year and our Boo costume is still one of the top Google results when searched.

  1. My twin girls have dressed up as Death and Susan from Terry Pratchett's Hogfather for three years now. Actually the first year (when they were six) it was Death and Albert which really confused people. This coming year a friend is joining them so they can be Lock, Shock, and Barrel from Nightmare Before Christmas. I've been instructed to put together and Oogie Boogie costume.

  2. Not only am I in a Fancy Photo Comic, I took the photos for panels seven and eight. It's… it's a proud moment.

It's often been said that Alberta, and Calgary in specific, in basically Texas Junior. Only with health care and snow. We do share a pride in our meats, that much is certain.

  3. From one of the past photo-comics, there was a little girl dressed as Doctor Who, and her mother in a TARDIS dress, THAT was one of the cutest damn things I've ever seen. Baby Dalek is right up there with them though.

baby dalek's first words: CHAAANGE MEE CHAANGE MEE.

  4. What is going on in the upper left-hand corner of the "release him from your evil grip…" panel? It's like there's a floaty tripod head cosplayer back there. I haven't seen one of those guys since aught 7.

  5. One Hallowe'en when my punkin' was a mere 2 or 3 and I had no time to prepare a costume, I constructed for him in about 5 minutes a train engine from a cardboard box. Trains were a big deal for him then.

  6. I saw a baby Ferengi once. I made up a Rule of Acquisition for it, but it was years ago. I cannot recall it.

  7. Wait, what if that was a baby Grammar Dalek! Oh noes! Quick, recite some poetry, so we can escape from the cuteness!
