Wil Wheaton and I got excited and made a thing! Check out our University of Gallifrey Fighting Time Lords Shirt over at Sharksplode.
CONVENTION NEWS: Connecticon is right now!!!. Come see me and David and Ryan and Lar and the Explosm quadruplets and much many mores!
This didn’t really happen, but I did see a mad hatter. Everyone at Connecticon has been really nice. We did a few panels that were super fun. We recorded them and if the audio is good I’ll post them for you in some fashion. Tomorrow is the last day, and I really hope you CT FB’s come out in force and show me some support.
STORE NEWS: The HijiNKS ENSUE Store is closed for a few weeks so I can make some big, exciting changes. [READ MORE HERE] In the meantime you can still get shirts from Sharksplode and HE Book 2 from this very site.
More like Dis-connecticon, amirite?
that's okay, Mad Hatter's just upset the Bat's more popular than him
Christ, what an asshole.
Aw, hopeful Joel looks so shattered in the last panel.
Are there ever any conventions near Springfield Missouri?
St. Louis – http://www.stlwebcomics.org/?p=138
Kansas City – http://www.planetcomicon.com/
Memphis – http://www.memphiscfc.com/
I searched for "comic conventions" plus a city name. Not sure how far you consider 'near Springfield'.
Thought I wont be attending any of those.
Hatters Gonna Hat is probably my favorite corruption of that meme.
But he's crazy, so he doesn't know what he's talking about anyway.
Hey Joel, I'd love to meet you in person and purchase some duty-free tee shirts, and Hartford is totally within driving distance for me, but perusing the ConectiCon website, I just couldn't justify the expense of gas and admission to go to what seems to be essentially a giant anime cosplay party. (Not that doesn't sound inriguing in its own special way…)
Maybe NYCC?
Maybe. I dont have firm plans to attend, but its possible.
Don't hate the hatter, hate the mercury in his top hat that's making his brain rot….erm I mean the game.
Bummed that you were in my neck of the woods and I couldn't make it out.
This was my first year at Connecticon and as much as it promotes its self as a multi-genre con, it's population appeared to be over run with anime fans. The contestants in the Death Match that weren't an anime character didn't make it very far at
all. I was pretty surprised when my roommate (Codex of The Guild) didn't even make it past the first round.
hopefully next time you're out this way, i'll have not just started a new job and will have money to spend. Mentioned the comic to the panelist of Serenity Found and she said she'd be taking a look.
I have to disagree with you there. Three of the four semi-finalists were video game characters, those four finalists being Sebastian from Black Butler (anime), Ezio from Assassin's Creed (video game) (also the winner), Little Sister from Bioshock (video game), and finally the T-Block from Tetris (video game) (also ridiculous).
In fact, the two finalists were both video game characters. Yes, the con was multi-genre, but the largest genre among convention-going nerds at this point is science fiction, anime, and video games. Anime is simply the genre that contains the most outgoing people that grab for attention. There were many, many, MANY Doctor Who cosplayers, and tons of various video game ones.
well, it IS an anime con.
My comment is awaiting moderation? Did I anger the internest?
Draw a football on the table, and EA Games will sell a whole annual series of video games about it.
"Hey, in Maddening 2012, you also get to die in a hurricano before being engulfed in a wildfiphoon. And people still don't buy your book."
Hey Joel, you need to post the picture of your epic blast paper that you and Alina did!
I posted it on twitter. I dont have a pic from the show. Hopefully someone else does.
