NYCC Guest Week has started!

I am going to be at New York Comic-Con with Blind Ferret at Booth #1821 this weekend  (10-13 to 10-16). Come say hi with your mouth and purchase things with your money. I will be giving out free “Sci-Fives” all weekend [the hand gesture, not the t-shirt].

Joel Watson of Geek webcomic HijiNKS ENSUE at New York Comic Con 2011

Paul Southworth of Not Invented Here starts off guest week right by trying to convince us all that people actually watch videos of other people playing Internet blocks Minecraft… wait, what? That’s a real thing? Well, holy shit. You learn something questionable every day.

Paul has one of the most unique art styles in webcomics. I’ve always envied his ability to create characters with uniquely shaped body types and non-standard proportions. He isn’t confined by realism and that allows him to draw characters that are actually fun to look at. His style is like a curvier Gendy Tartakovsky. It’s something my brain absolutely will not let me do. Now he has gone so far as to show me what MY OWN CHARACTERS would look like if I knew how draw them correctly. That miserable sonuvabitch.

A million years ago I did a guest comic for Paul’s now concluded comic Ugly Hill. You can see more great HijiNKS ENSUE Guest Comics by other awesome artists HERE.

COMMENTERS: Do you do this Minecraft video thing? Feel feel to post yours or your favorites in the comments.

Everything Josh touches at E3 turns to shit. Even though I am not a gamer myself, I do have quite a few friends exhibiting at, attending or simply possessing a vested interest in this years Electronic Entertainment Expo. Josh IRL’s company, Gearbox Software, is showing off Duke Nukem: Forfuckingfinally, Aliens: Colonial Marines [they mostly come out at night… mostly] on the above-mentioned Wii U, plus the latest Brothers In Arms release, Brothers In Arms: Fast Five: Faster Five: The Fastest Furious Four: Bros In Arms Before Ho’s In Arms. I played Private Garnett in the first three Brothers In Arms games and I got my face shot right off [SPOILERS].

Eli IRL’s company, Terminal Reality, is unveiling their long awaited “Star Wars Kid” simulator, Kinect Star Wars. It’s got all the Jedi powers you’ve always wanted to act out: Force Flail, Light Saber Trip Over, Jump Fall, and Hurt Floor.

Nintendo has continued their tradition of creating poorly named, obscenely awkward hardware which has amazing capabilities that no one asked for, and that everyone will eventually love for 6 months before it turns out to be more popular with your mom’s friends than with your own.

COMMENTERS: What do you think of the Wii U? Will you Wii U? Anything else that you’ve seen from E3 that has sparked any sort of reaction? What about that Playstation Pita Pocket I keep hearing about?

NEWS! I will not be attending HeroesCon this weekend. Read more HERE. Sorry, Charlotte Fancy Bastards.

GUEST COMIC WEEK ROCKETS INTO TOMORROW! In celebration of my 30th birthday I’m taking the week off. How can you help celebrate my 1/3 life crisis? Oh I don’t know… maybe donate, get something off the wish list or buy something from the store or Sharksplode? Sure. Why not. Whatever.

Today’s foam tipped and cardboard shielded guest comic comes from Brian Patterson of d20 Monkey! The last time Brian sat in for me it was one of the best received guest comics in HE history (HEstory, or HijiNKS ENSUstory), so of course when the need arose I asked him to take the reigns once more. I do apologize to any of you Fancy Bastards that can’t control the boners produced by panel 3. If boners persist for more than four hours, please see a physician.

The Doctor Is In T-Shirt

“The Doctor Is In” shirt based off the “You’re The Last of The Time Lords, Charlie Brown” comic is here!

Sharksplode.com - Geeky Nerdy T-Shirts, Funny Tee ShirtsI guess the theme of this week’s comics is “things every geek loves that I have little to no personal experience with.” This comic marks a temporary lifting of my embargo on HijiNKS ENSUE comics concerning video games. I haven’t been a gamer since the original Xbox and I don’t want to pander to the gamers out there by piecing together bits of internet I’ve read into some facsimile of a unique perspective on the subject. “Everyone seems to hate GAME A, so here’s me echoing that sentiment and also there’s cursing and violence.” It would just get boring for you and for me.

COMMENTERS: Feel free to say whatever you want about Portal 2. Hell, you can make stuff up. I won’t know the difference.

A NEW THING!!! I have launched Sharksplode.com. It is NOT a replacement for The HijiNKS ENSUE Store. It IS a place that I can put up my more niche, inside, “maybe not for everyone, but definitely for super geeks like us” shirt ideas.

HijiNKS ENSUE at Emerald City Comicon

OMG EMERALD CITY COMICON IS THIS WEEKEND!!! It is by far my favorite show of the year. Come see me and Angela at booth 307. Here’s a MAP to all the other webcomics I know that will be there. I will be at the Marian Call show in Seattle Thursday night. If any Fancy Bastards are in the audience, feel free to comic up and say hi.

CONVENTION UPDATE: I announced on Twitter today that I wouldn’t be attending the Toronto Comics and Arts Festival [TCAF] due to astronomical airfares. Lots of you suggested I flying into Buffalo, NY and drive from there. This might be a viable possibility, so I’m not counting Toronto out 100% yet. I will make an update via Twitter when my plans are finalized.

BOOK UPDATE: The giant, frost bitten pallet of HE Book 2’s should arrive at my house from Canada today. I’ll be on a plane to Seattle the next morning and start shipping books when I get back. Non-artist edition books will ship first, followed by non-artist UFE’s (still waiting on some of the goodies like stickers and buttons to arrive), followed by all artist editions. I have at least 200 books to sketch, so please be forgiving when it comes to delivery times.

HOW ABOUT THIS FANCY GUEST COMIC, HUH? Very special thanks to Brian Patterson of D20 Monkey for this hilarious guest comic. Though the three of us have never played D&D together in real life, I assume it would go very much like this.

COMMENTERS: What else goes on in the mundane lives of Orcs and other dungeon dwellers BEFORE you party happens upon them?
