Moving on. I just finished Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. I’m late to this party, but I brought the Barbecue Funyuns. Josh had been telling me for years that I was missing out by not watching BSG. It wasnt that I didn’t care. Oh, contraire. I cared too much.
When I love something, the good people at VivendiUniversalMTVFOXComedyCentralEXXonMobilMrsBairdsBread start the death clock (not the DethKlok). I told that bald headed bastard that If I ever loved this Battlestar that it would be swiftly taken from us all. Rendered asunder like so much Wonderfalls, or dare I say it, Firefly. Why did you leave us Captain Tightpants? Why?
Well, I signed up for the Netflix, put seasons 1 and 2 in the que and immediately started watching BSG…every night. 3 and 4 episodes at a time. “Riker’s Beard, this is good scifi!” I says. 14 seconds later it got canceled. Thats right, my love is cursed. Woe unto to yee that knows my love, for yee shalt be cancel-ed. ALL ARE CANCEL-ED!
Josh tried to convince me that I was part of the problem for not watching it sooner. I pointed out that downloading HDTV rips of the episodes from Bittorrent wasn’t exactly supporting the show either.
I think I actually heard him “Herumph” at that point.

I love RHPOT, Guy of Gisbourne was my Halloween costume in 3rd grade.
Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham… genius. He should just be all villains in all movies. Darth Maul, One of the random Vietnamese people from the Deer Hunter, God from Star Trek 5- the list is literally endless.

I lived in fear every day while watching Galactica that someone or something was going to spoil it. I speed-watched all 3 seasons in about 6 weeks.
I won’t spoil Prison Break (especially since I dont know where you are in the series) but if you are looking for closure… dont hold your breath. They started that show with a basic premise; break out of prison. I knew they would have to completely reinvent it to go past season 2, and….

I guess you dont have to like it, but I bet you wont find even a handful of scifi fans that share your sentiments. The fact that Ron Moore and team were able to create such an enthralling and honest show from the smoldering ashes of the original series is commendable to say the least. The first BSG was sub par camp and is generally regarded as such. If you are in love with the original, more power to you, but Its not even worth comparing it to Ron Moore’s show. They arent even in the same league.

The show wasn’t actually cancelled, the producers decided that it was time to give the story an ending, rather than letting it drag till they ran out of ideas. Trust me, it’s better that way. It’s a mistake that a lot of American shows make, just keep churning out more episodes as long as it’s making money, look at the last two seasons of Buffy, Friends after season three. Good shows die slow horrible deaths, great shows stop when they should.

People are really sensitive about this cancelled/non-cancelled issue. I’m not saying the show should go on 12 seasons too long like The Simpson’s, but I bet they could have done 5 or 6 quality seasons before it got stale.
I just hate investing time and emotion in a story and a group of characters only to have them swept away (again, and again, and agan….)
