Potter And Daughter is a Harry Potter themed podcast where Joel Watson (cartoonist, geek dad and creator of the online comic HijiNKS ENSUE) talks to his eight year old daughter, Lily, as she reads through the Harry Potter book series.
In each episode Joel and Lily cover about 1/4 to 1/5 of a book, discussing what happened, why it happened and what lessons Lily is learning from the books as she reads them. It’s part Cliff’s Notes and part cute and instrospective conversation between a father and daughter who love the same books for the same (and sometimes totally different) reasons.
In episode thirty-three, the final regular episode of Potter And Daughter Joel and Lily discuss chapters 32 through The Epilogue of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

In episode thirty-two of Potter And Daughter Joel and Lily review chapters 26-31 of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Harry, Ron and Hermione execute a daring daylight heist, then Harry’s connection with Voldemort finally reveals the location of the final Horcrux. Harry meets another Dumbledore, and is reunited with his friends from school, who have been living through a dangerous adventure of their own. A bit of sleuthing in the castle points Harry to the identity of and possible exact location of the item he seeks, while Harry’s friends, his teachers, the reformed DA, The Order and more begin taking back the school.

In episode thirty-one of Potter And Daughter Joel and Lily discuss the events of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows chapters 20-25. Harry and his friends visit a friend’s father and learn that a famous fable might hold the key to defeating Voldemort. Harry becomes obsessed with a new quest at the expense of his current one, then finds himself and his friends held captive in the heart of The Dark Lord’s operation. The trio says goodbye to a faithful friend, while Voldemort claims a long sought after item that could make him stronger than ever. Harry uses what he’s learned from a Goblin and a wand maker to formulate the next part of his plan to defeat Voldemort.

In episode thirty of Potter And Daughter Joel and Lily tackle Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows chapters 14-19. Harry and his friends, with no safe haven to return to, are on the run. Harry learns that Voldemort is after a previously stolen item, and a possible method for destroying Horcruxes, but the victory is short-lived as, after a fight, the trio becomes a duo. Harry visits the place of his birth, and his parents’ death, and visits with an old friend of Dumbledore’s who isn’t quite what she appears to be. New information paints Dumbledore in a far different, darker light, but spirits are raised as a lost friend returns.

In episode twenty-nine of Potter And Daughter Joel and Lily pick up their discussion of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows with chapters 9-13. Harry, Ron and Hermione are on the run from the Death Eaters and need to find a safe place to hide. Kreacher sheds some light on the origination and possible whereabouts of the locket Horcrux, and the three friends plan a daring heist to retrieve it. Infiltrating the Ministry proves fairly simple, until ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING goes incredibly wrong. Changes in the Ministry are evident and Muggle-born wizards find themselves on trial with Delores Umbridge the judge, jury and potential executioner.
