Fancy Digital Sketch Drive 2013 is GO GO GO!

On August 1, 2012 my outside air conditioner died . The year before that, on August 1, 2011, the inside AC unit died. Both times you, The Fancy Bastards, saved my sweltering ass by purchasing sketch cards from my Fancy Sketch Drive. Here we are on August 1, 2013 and (so far) no major home appliances have exploded, but finances ARE super tight in HijiNKS ENSUE land.

To that end I am offering my first ever Digital Fancy Sketch Drive!For $20 I will draw just about whatever you want and send you a hi-res 8.5×11″ file, suitable for printing and framing. It will have a nice border denoting the 2013 Fancy Digital Sketch Drive and everything.

Hi Joel, when you say to write in the sketch request in the checkout field does that mean the one down at the bottom of the page or on PayPal? If it’s the latter I’ve made a major booboo.

HijiNKS ENSUE At San Diego Comic-Con 2013

I will be at San Diego Comic-Con for the 4th year this week! Come see me at the Blind Ferret Booth (#1231) in the Webcomics area. I will have books and shirts, sketches, Lil’ Wil plushies and ??????THE MYSTERY BOX??????!!!! Speaking of books, if you buy HijiNKS ENSUE Vol’s 1 or 2 you’ll get a free mini print featuring my Sharknado sequel posters!

I will also have a very limited supply of two of my daughter’s prints. If you buy them, she gets the money. It’s a sort of double edged “TOO CUTE TO COMPREHEND/ Teaching my kid that art has value” sort of thing. You can see the designs and learn more here on my Tumblr.

I will be posting my comings and goings from the booth via Twitter, so check there first before coming by to chat, get a thing, bring me delicious cookies, bring me delicious Starbucks Doubleshots, bring me delicious booze, bring me delicious Starbucks Iced Soy Lattes or BRING ME DELICIOUS BOOZE (which are all things I strongly encourage you to do… a lot).

Other than the convention proper, I will also be at Stone Brewing Hop-Con on Wednesday night, w00tstock on Thursday night and possibly at No Laughs Allowed: Internet Comedy is Serious Sh*t (with Cyanide and Happiness, SMBC and 5 Second Films) on Saturday night. Catch me at any of these events, answer my three riddles correctly and I’ll have to give you me pot’o gold plus safe passage across the Enchanted Bridge.

HijiNKS ENSUE 6th Anniversary Fancy Bastard Fancy Fan Art Contest Winners!

Over the last week I have INUNDATED WITH AWESOME from you Fancy Bastards in response to the Fancy Fan Art Contest. I took an extra day to really go over the entires and decide on the winners, but now the envelopes are sealed, the briefcases are welded shut and sunk to the bottom of the ocean ON THE MOON. The decisions are made is what I’m saying. I made my choices based on how well the artist seemed to “get” the HE characters, how much effort went into it, how much it amused me and awarded bonus points for weirdness. Without further delay, here are you 2013 Fancy Fan Art Contest Winners!

In 3rd place with his portrayal of Juan Q. Zach on the Iron Throne is Gary Marks! Of all the hand drawn submissions, this one made me laugh the most.

Gary wins a signed HE comic print of his choice.

In 2nd place with an ACTUAL SONG all about HijiNKS ENSUE is Adam Sakellarides! I was terrified to listen to this, in the event that it might be terrible, but I was wonderfully surprised when the music and singing were great and the lyrics showed a real understanding and love of the comics. HijiNKS ENSUE 6 Year Anniversary Fancy Fan Art Contest

Tomorrow (May 11, 2013), HijiNKS ENSUE turns 6 years old. To celebrate I want to hold a Fancy Bastard Fancy Fan Art contest.

You’ll have the next week, maybe 2 depending on how quick the submissions come in, to submit your most creative depiction of anything HE related in your artistic medium of choice. Crayon, paper mache, dubstep dance mix, digital drawing, whatever. There are no guidelines for what you can make or how you can make it, but know that I will be judging based on how much effort you appear to have put in or how funny/amusing it I find it.

Please create your thing and email it, or a picture of it if it is a physical item to comics at hijinksensue dot com. Please send attachments no larger than 1mb, but feel free to link to larger versions. HINT: I typically like to include this sort of thing in the backs of my books.

Soft Deadline is this coming Thursday with a winner to be announced 1 week from today (unless there are no submissions, then I will be sad and push it a week).

PRIZES! PRIZES! PRI-ZIZES!

First Place will get a digital commission by me! I will draw any HE related characters or thing you like and send you a full color file suitable for printing and framing!

2nd Place will get an Sharksplode shirt of their choosing, and a signed HE comic Print of their choice. International winners will need to pay shipping.

3rd Place will get a signed print of any HE comic of their choice.
