Fringe, the best serious scifi show on television (prove me wrong, I dare you. I DARE YOU!) was picked up by Fox for a fourth season. Ever since I heard the news via Twitter I have been consulting the scrolls, casting the bones and reading the Alphabits in a vain attempt to figure out how this occurance fits into the Fox’s grand scheme of ultimate geek sadness.

Most of you already know that Fox’s Doom Engine is fueled by the tears of geeks and nerds, and NOT just any tears. No. Only the tears of ultimate suffering. Their Hate Furnace won’t move one inch when filled with tears born of physical pain. It requires a propellant created from equal parts lost hope and broken dreams and wilted spirits. Some are theorizing that putting Fringe in the Friday Night Death Slot, only to renew it against all conceivable Foxlogic is just a ploy to make its eventual termination all the more bitter and the ensuing tear-fuel all the more potent. Perhaps there are darker machinations at play. Perhaps we will explore these in next week’s HE comics. Perhaps. [spolers: we will]

I’m heading out this morning to talk to a local high school art class about making comics. I think it’s part of the D.A.R.E. program. Drawing dicks Always Rapes Eyeballs or some such. Very special thanks to Super Webcomics Fan Jose Villalobos for taking a few of the pics that appear in today’s comic and posting them to Facebook.

I did a webcomics panel at C2E2 with Rob Denbleyker, Kris Wilson, Ryan Sohmer and the aforementioned Ms. Corsetto which, according to audience feedback, was the greatest panel in the history of con-dom [not condoms, though I’m am sure some nerds were knocking boots afterwards]. The audio of that panel will be posted [hopefully Friday] as the next episode of The HijiNKS ENSUE Podcast. I suggest you go ahead and subscribe via RSS or iTunes so you don’t miss it. I will tease you with two words: Yeti Murphy.

I’m going to be speaking at a local high school art class tomorrow. Apparently they want to show the students the dangerous aftermath of a life spent making comics.

I had an amazing time in Chicago. Special thanks to my boothmates Randy, David and Danielle. By our powers combined, we were… able to afford the booth. And have fun. And sell things to people. Some of whom were in costume. It was good times. Chicago welcomed us into its hefty, meaty bosom and bathed us in the deepest of dished pizzas and the greenest of beers (it was St. Patty’s Day weekend, which is apparently Chicago’s Christmas). Despite these kindnesses, it also offered us this cruel joke of an abominable bastardized hot dog. Where was the chili? The shredded cheese? Has the city no sense? It was like a wet salad was gunned down Robocop style near a hot dog that wasn’t finished being made. I will let it slide this time, Chicago, but I expect you to correct this error in hotdoggery before I return in 12 months time.

I was very pleased to get to spend so much time with my friends from Least I Could Do and Cyanide and Happiness during this trip. Along with Danielle, we all participated in the single greatest panel I have ever been a part of. It was a solid hour of laughs and good times. The audio will be posted as the nest HijiNKS ENSUE Podcast for those that are interested in receiving enjoyment through the ears.

I hope you enjoy these book sketches in place of a comic. There will be more of them tomorrow.
