Great comments, Joel. We've already talked some via email on the store issues, but I'll be back in touch about some of these other things, particularly the "1000 true fans" concept. Did I happen to mention that my dissertation will be on fandom and it's economic effects…? We need to talk. Thanks for mentioning the Long Tail concept also — I think that will be a good model for niche entertainment in the future. It's just getting the large companies to realize that if they don't learn to play nicely with their consumers (and creative talent) that they will find other ways of working around them, and before they know it, they will be of no consequence — just as you said re: the comic syndicates.
