I’ll be showing off more rough art, unpublished ideas, and complete orignal comic sketches (before the comics go live) on the Super Secret Blog that only HijiNKS Ensue Donators will have access too. I’m working on this now and hope to have it all squared away this week. Anyone that has EVER donated to HE in the past will have access to this content as if they donated the month it goes live.

It’s going to work like this: if you make a donation, you’ll get a password emailed to you that will give you access to the Super Secret Blog (need to pick a name for this). You’ll be able to view all the content from the beginning up through the month that you donated. The password will change each month. If you donate the last few days of the month, you WILL get next month’s password.

I’ll be posting: 

• Unfinished/Rough Art for comics, books and shirts, etc
• Monthly Desktop Backgrounds
• Videos and Audio that won’t be seen on HijiNKSEnsue.com

Oh, I met an HE reader (that I didnt already know) for the first time. We were at a karaoke party hosted by FarrisG. He was a damn fine singer and had shoes with toes… like barefoot shoes.

If you heard Podcast #15, you may remember me mentioning some special reader art that I got from Didu in Finland. I finally posted it to Flickr, along with a sketch of me doing the Video Blog from Jarmo, and the FB Cake from Demiakumu.

Wait, what?! There is?!

Ok, enough pretense. Theres a Fancy Bastard Forum now. It’s been up in secret for a few days while a smallish group of FB’s helped me work out some of the major bugs, and FB Bill will be helping out as a moderator. There are also a few more FB’s that have offered to moderate should the need for more mods arrise. It’s built on Vanilla, which is a light weight and easy platform with lot’s of available functionality through add-ons and extenstions.

The forum is still basically in beta, if you will, so use the approriate threads to let me know if there are bugs that need to be resolved or features that you would like to see implimented.

Head over and sign up. You can read some of the great discussions already posted while you wait for your account to be approved. Please read the basic rules (don’t be a jerk, don’t start fights, etc), and have fun.

One of the  things I enjoy most about making HijiNKS Ensue is the community that has grown around the comic. You don’t typically see a group like the Fancy Bastards attach themselves to comics that have been around for 5 years, much less 1. You guys are witty and creative and add to the enjoyment of each comic with your comments and discussions. You are geeks among men, and you deserve a place to call your own. The FBF is my gift to you. Please use it wisely and respectfully.

I wanted to point out a few new developments for HijiNKS Ensue that some of you Fancy Bastards might enjoy.

Finnish FB, Jarmo, started an HE Facebook Group.

I’ve finally started uploading reader pics to Flickr.

I also posted some pics from one of our first HE Podcasts. Probably episode 4 or 5.

I’ll keep updating these as I get new pics, so send yours to comics(at)hijinksensue(dot)com.

Lastly, looks like I’ll be working with FB Bill to set up a Fancy Bastard Forum. More on that as it develops.

Based on reader suggestions (most recently from Orf) I’ve worked up some designs for a “Sharkslpode” t-shirt. Sharksploding originated from this comic, if you need a refresher course.

This one is using the art directly from the comic, so it’s either one or the other. I’m partial to the 3 panel version myself, because it tells a sharksplosion story.

I also think Im going to put up a version of “GYFB” with just the text on black. Thoughts?

I’ve been reading all the suggestions and messing around with new design concepts. I normally would just design the shirt and put it in the store, but this one is special. It’s the “I’m A Fancy Bastard” shirt. This brands you as an HE reader because NO ONE ELSE could ever understand it. Taking the best bits from all the suggestions and mixing them with my own ideas I’ve come up with these:

Ignore the background color. I just used a neutral gray to sketch over. I think Joel and Eli would be in gray tones kind of in shadow.
