My wife used to work down the street from the Woot Office in Farmer's branch. A few things Ive ordered have been here next day due to proximity.

The day the phone arrived they were doing construction down the street. Every "large truck sound" I heard prompted a look out the window. Eventually I turned off my iMac and angled it to window so I could use the screen as a mirror.

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who goes absolutely fucking mental waiting on packages (especially drums or electronics) to arrive. My wife loves watching me make a complete spectacle of myself: leaping up and tearing ass to the window with every passing truck. Checking the time, feverishly pounding the F5 key on the tracking tab, dreading that notice that "an exception has occurred," transplanting me neatly from the tower of hopeless optimism to the abyss of customer service damnation.

And God help us all if I order something from Woot (less than a twenty minute drive from my house) and it takes longer than two days to get to me, because I'll be teetering on the brink of madness with anticipation and frustration, watching the FedEX tracking dot carve wide, looping circles around the D/FW metroplex, the delivery driver cackling maniacally as he passes from suburb to suburb, denying me that blissful moment when the package is first opened, and the bounty within first revealed.

I have issues, I know.

I dont use the device as a phone much at all. Just the occasional business call and to talk to my wife. I dont need or deserve your pitty, though.

I'm somehow not surprised in the least that AT&T is finding new an innovative ways to shaft their customers and generally cause them to regret getting into 2+ year contracts with them.

At least you work from home and could get yours the minute FedE ==> x stopped jerking you around. I had to wait til I got home.

About the 3G availability, that is the sole reason i have not upgraded from my first gen iPhone. Im in a city in GA called Milledgeville, and for the last 2 years we would have AT&T 3G network "In the next quarter." Pretty weird since we have 2 colleges with roughly 15,000 combined students. anyway it doesnt bother me too much as we will be getting one of the nations first 4G and WiMax capable areas. http://news.mywebpal.com/news_tool_v2.cfm?show=lo...

I can't help but think the last panel should be in patented PredaVision, with the target-lock on the phone.

(I hate cell phones. I'm not a gadget-geek in general, so while I sympathize with the general anxious anticipation of something you WANT WANT WANT, iPhones and iPods and PDAs and whatnot just don't do it for me.)
