To the videogame-type people: what's your opinion on the Sci-Fi MMO-FPS Tabula Rasa dying in late February?
February 20th, 2009 at 1:41 am
What's the best creative idea you've ever had that never came to fruition either from lack of resources or your never having gotten around to it?
February 20th, 2009 at 4:30 am
i honestly can't say i know much about this. i'm not much of a MMO gamer. if given the choice i'd rather play a FPS or a RTS
February 20th, 2009 at 4:40 am
MMO questions tend to go unanswered since none of us play them. Sorry.

Nothing is more funny than having myself impersonated by Eli… especially since I'm not East Indian!

If you 4 (or 3) could create a board game centered around any aspect of geekdom, what would it be and what would the rules be?
For Example – LOST the board game, much like LIFE, except the cards don't make sense and pieces are randomly eaten by a polar bear and/or black mist.

Just for you guys to laugh at, the author of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" talks about "Pride and Prejudice" versus his own work.
"In theirs an alien crash lands and starts picking people off. In ours, there's this zombie onslaught that's been going on for years and Elizabeth Bennett has spent her whole life training to become a highly efficient killer of the undead, as has Darcy. It's more about a love story between two headstrong independent zombie slayers."

To Joel, really:
Have you considered doing a pack of gamerpics for all the Fancy Xbox 360 Bastards out there? I don't know how you would do it in a practical sense, but I would buy the damn thing (heck, I bought the VG Cats one, but I'd rather have HE).
Favorites we'd all probably like to see included, aside from the obvious portraits of all the main characters:
- Pokemon Denise
- Dead Josh?
- Boxcar Pete
- The Macromancer, LOLuchador and Bear Arms
- Gaytos?
etc.

General consensus that while the game wasn't a big hit or necessarily "good", it's still a shame to see it die so quickly. This is an area of games where the servers don't get taken offline for years, usually.

You're just gonna steal their ideas from their mind grapes.

Since you guys are such connoisseurs of shitty movies, I need to ask if any of you have heard of Tommy Wiseau's "The Room". Apparently, it's been the next big thing in terms of shitty movies and midnight screenings for a few years now. Bad acting/directing/writing/production, all from the same guy (the aforementioned Tommy Wiseau).
February 26th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
have any of you gone against the common opinion on a geek thing? why don't u do it now? (Joel Smallville doesn't count, as you obviously have a diesease)

A question for any of you guys that do any 3D work (so I guess just Josh and Eli): what's your preferred 3D editor of choice and why? I'm an architect, and I'm getting bored of using AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max for everything that I do, 12 hours a day. I like modeling objects and spaces in my spare time, and I'm looking to learn something new, just for the hell of it. Any suggestions?

Love the shirt, but I think it should be tweaked to "We Iz In" for that authentic Lolcattery.

This is going off of my last question about unintentionally gay movies, what are some movies you think would be improved if they had had more unintentionally gay moments (the movies don't have to have been previously unintentionally gay)?
As a reference my friends and I decided Armageddon would've been just a little less shitty with some unintentional gayness thrown in between Affleck and Willis (Zero-G spooning).
(Also thanks for calling out Return of the King as an unintentionally gay movie last podcast. It helped me settle an argument with a hardcore Lord of the Rings fan friend of mine who also listens to your podcasts.)

That's his new name – Joel Smallville

Do any of you have any annoying / wierd habits or OCDs? Alternatively maybe the crew could inform on their fellow members.
February 27th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Ah, but "I'm in ur" is a widely accepted LOL-ism, so the "We're in ur" is accurate.
I'm fluent. Sometimes when I'm bored, I add it to my resume.

Penny-Arcade's comic today essentially says Dollhouse isn't worth the time. I've watched the 2 episodes available on Hulu and thought they were decent – interesting ideas with questionable acting performances. Am I just too Whedoned-out to not see the crapiness (as PA implies) or do you guys agree that 2 episodes is pretty early to nail the coffin?
February 27th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Follow-up: Whedon aside, can you think of some other TV shows that had rocky starts but ended up being great? This is an old one, but I didn't even think the Simpsons got funny until season 3. Of course, it stopped being funny about 10 years ago, so maybe that's a bad example…

Hi guys, you seen the trailer for the new Takashi Miike movie, Yatterman?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fln9fyuFRZM
How about just deranged Japanese movies in general, such as Big Man Japan or the Happiness of the Katakuris?
February 27th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
Shame the Gamerscore Blog guys are gone… they would have been the ones to streamline a process like this.
February 28th, 2009 at 12:04 am
I still say it's "canceling"!
February 28th, 2009 at 12:05 am
Speaking of Dollhouse, it's Dollhouse or the podcast tonight, for me. Sad face.
