Music question! As geeks, what is your preferred music?

Weird Al & Dr. Demento stuff?
    NerdCore (MC Frontalot – http://www.nerdcorerisingthemovie.com/)?
Geek rock (TheyMightBeGiants, Jonathan Coulton, Ludo, etc)>
    Filk (Bedlam Bards) ?
    Baroque cantatas?

I listen to them all, just wondering what y'all think.

Do you guys have any favorite musicals (stage or screen, doesn't matter), and what movie, tv show, comic, video game, whatever, would you like to see get the musical makeover treatment?

Personally, I'm hoping for a world tour of Evil Dead The Musical sometime soon:

The wife and I saw it twice, and it's the greatest. Mmm, so campy.

This is something that I stumbled upon on the old interwebs. Apparently it's a new type of controller. I was wondering if you guys had seen this thing:

Not so much a question, just something…uh…interesting.

Seen this awesome live-action Half-Life 2 movie yet?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1UPMEmCqZo
Pretty impressive that they've made this thing on-the-fly, with a total cost (for the first 2 episodes at least) of only $500.
And of course, it's Half-Life, so it's great to begin with.

Name the worst roles your favourite actors/actresses have been in.

I'll get the ball rolling and say Liam Neeson in The Dead Pool, the last movie in the Dirty Harry Franchise.

  7. the_stig

My favourite was Spamalot, I saw it with the original cast. It was amazing and how could it not be with Tim Curry as King Arthur, Hank Azaria as Lancelot (and several other roles), David Hyde Pierce as Sir Robin and Sara Ramirez as the Lady of the Lake.

    A few things:

    1. Did any of you see Bill Gates release a swarm of mosquito's on a crowd? I think he's slowly becoming a Bond villain.

    2. Any of you watch Burn Notice, its a neat USA show that's very similar to the A-Team and it has Bruce Campbell.

  9. core1065

    hello reposted question from core1065,
who would win in a all out fight, Star Wars V.S. Star Trek

P.S. you guys were talking about icelands first gay leader just to let you know America has had a gay president James Buchanan. Him and Alabama Senator William Rufus King lived together, Andrew Jackson refered to King as "Miss Nancy" and "Aunt Fancy", while Aaron V. Brown spoke of the two as "Buchanan and his wife".

    websites about James:

  10. Just Christine

I highly disapprove of the proposed stage musical of "Thriller"

  11. Aaron

I was wondering what the group's favorite unintentionally gay movies(i.e. Top Gun & Point Break) were?

  13. karhedron

Dear gods… as in the Michael Jackson thing?

  14. karhedron

Gah, I should have seen that!

  15. jessie_monster

The same site that had 'Silence! the Musical' had a bunch of one-off songs. My favourite was "What's in the Box?" from 'Se7en'.

    http://www.jonandal.com/chinesenew.shtml

Also, '24: Season 2' DOES have a song with Kim and the Cougar called "Bring It On".

I have that soundtrack and Sara Ramirez rocks my socks. She can now be seen as the depressed Surprise!Lesbian on Grey's Anatomy.

  16. Just Christine

    Yes.

  17. Just Christine

I saw Spamalot with the original cast, but I have to say I enjoyed it much more the second time around when Alan Tudyk was in Hank Azaria's roles!!

  18. Just Christine

Also, in case you hadn't heard, Bono and the Edge of U2 are doing "Spider-man" the musical.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/4158828/...

Which, while I think it's going to be a flop, can't be NEARLY as bad as "It's a Bird… It's A Plane… It's Superman!" from 1966, which was transformed into a made-for-tv musical special in 1975 called "Superman! The Musical":
    clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDR-XvJpqBk
    available on DVD: http://www.antimattermultiverse.com/products/supe...

And yes, I've sat through the entire Superman musical… twice.

I just picked up the original Crazy Taxi for the PS2 along with a bunch of fantastic games with fantastic budgets, and for some reason Crazy Taxi's the one I can't put down. In your experience, do bigger-budgeted tend to be better on average, or is it all about the gameplay? Is arcade-style skill-based gameplay dying?

Ugh, that's sad, but Sega's been needing a trip out back with the shotgun for a while now.
