You know the drill. You post a topic, question or link, I read them on the Podcast then we talk about something completely different.

> What do you think of the Punisher trailers? I like Ray Stevenson but wonder if this is the right role for him and the jigsaw make up is terrible. But I wonder if this could be so bad it's good.

> Are there any TV programs / Movies that you feel you should have seen but have never gotten around to. I've never watched twin peaks and I feel that's hurting my geek credentials.
> And a final serious one, what would it take for you to join the military – If the US started conscription would you happily trip along to your death or do your best to get out of it?

Did anyone in HEPodcastland see Hellboy II?
What did you think of it if you did?

The jist of it is that, of 20 most watched film clips on hulu ( http://www.hulu.com/popular/film_clips/all_time ), at least half of them have some level of sexuality, ranging from the actual nudity of the "Animal House" Topless Pillow Fight to scenes from "Bring It On" to Lea Thompson and Victoria Jackson talking about orgasms in 1988's "Casual Sex?"
Obviously this proves that the holodeck is for porn, but searching through hulu movie clips to find sexy scenes is a horrible allocation of time. Haven't these people ever heard of xtube.com, redtube.com, and megarotic.com?

Repo: A Genetic Opera

Sure, it has Paris Hilton in it, but it also has Anthony Head, who has done Rocky Horror (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Lilv4d9Z7o8). I'm looking forward to it.
Also, anyone ever hear of MdotStrange (http://youtube.com/user/mdotstrange)? Single-handedly made a little film called "We Are The Strange", which is up in full on YouTube and various torrent sights. It's weird as shit, but totally wicked awesome.

Fair enough – you made my wife laugh her ass off at your comment…"Sean McHale, who the fuck is that?!?" And Eli – "I don't know. I think he sent me a Facebook request a while ago."
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am

1) I guess the podcast is gonna be a Monday thing from now on?
2) What's with all the Taco Bell love on the show? I've got a Taco Bell on campus, and every time I eat it, I become Josh in regards to toilets. Is it some sort of Texan/Mexican thing I'm not aware of?
3) Michael Bay FIOS commercial. Ignorant hubris, or self-mockery? http://youtube.com/watch?v=lXRCf9LbLM0&featur...
4) John Waters versus Steve Buscemi
5) Did you watch Justice League, and are you sad that the DC animated universe seems to be over? Not including "The Batman". I mean old DCAU, with Kevin Conroy and co.
6) Does Real Life Joel own the shirt Cartoon Joel has?
7) Relistening to the last few podcasts, you keep mentioning old photos of yourselves and we would like to see them.

What's the one thing that you enjoy doing/watching/etc. that you feel takes away from your geek cred? (i love baseball, and us geeks aren't supposed to be big sports nuts)

Any comments on Ron Pearlman's "Sons of Anarchy"?
Also ID isn't letting me log in, supposedly my password isn't what I set it to. Oh well…

Did you find the "Cornetto" line in Shaun of the dead funny even though you didn't know what a Cornetto was?
Have you watched Spaced?

For Josh: Any franchise you'd murderize to be able to work on and/or any game-design aspirations?
For Eli: Given the choice, would you start your comic book shop or take a gig drawing your favorite comic/characters?
For Denise: Is HR what you saw yourself doing, or does the work environment "make" the job for you?
For Joel: Sorry, I got nothing that doesn't have the potential to be to personal.

I'm sans-internets right now, what can I do offline? I hear you can rent movies offline now, that might be worth looking into. Help please.

Any thoughts on X-Files? Does Gillian Anderson hang out with Alexis Denisof in the "Actors that don't like working club"?

Favorite zombie movies and/or survival horror video games featuring zombies? I am a fan of both, particularly 28 Days Later and the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Did you receive the order I placed on Friday at the wonderful Hijinksensue Store available at hijinksensuestore.com a handy depository for all your T-Shirt, Comic print and personal avatar requirements?
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Go ahead and ask away, as long as its not about my family.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Nah. It's not about your wife or daughter, but I'm pretty sure I learned my lesson about Serious Questions a few podcasts back. =P
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Joel, how long did you work on the designs for HE before you started the comic? I noticed you jumped the gun and started the site up before you had a backlog of comics, which the halfpixel guys frown upon, but it seems to have worked out for you pretty well.
Also, were there other comics before Hijinks Ensue that just didn't make the cut, or was there ever an actual comic book in the works?
Finally, I know it's been asked before, but you should consider learning flash or whatever it is they use to do venture bros and metalocalypse, and do a cartoon. I'd pay to see it, and you're an f'ing voice actor man, it's like, karma or something.

1. Do you guys play any Fantasy Football? Maybe there could be a Fancy Bastards league?
2. My newest Fantasy author is S.M. Stirling. Have any of you read him? His Dies the Fire trilogy is very satisfying post apocalyptic "guilty pleasure" reading.

Baseball nuts are some of the geekiest people I know, it's probably the most statistics-rich sport of the Big 5 (Football, hockey, basketball, baseball, soccer) offering plenty of opportunities to geek out.

My new question is: Was my old question swallowed into the internet by intenseDebate, or was it deleted for being offensive? Sorry if it was, I thought it was a funny story (and I brought in new fans for your podcast)
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Deleted. Im sure it was not your intent, but that was definitely not something I ask a person live on the internet.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Joel, I know you're married, and I think Eli is married. I know Josh is single, and I suspect that Denise is single because she conveys a sense of innocence and charm that can only be matched by Ms. Dipesto on Moonlighting.
So my question is, are your comic counterparts married or single? It seems like all of the characters have geekified single lives filled with video games, movies, pickle parties, and the Interwebs, Do you think having married characters would detract from your ability to write great comics?
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Not offensive. Boring, according to the HE guys. I think all the FBs liked it though. We like a little serious with our comedy.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:36 am
You're welcome to post serious questions as long as they are in good taste.

(Also, they have Intarwebz at libraries nowadays, so it's win for all.)
