Josh’s team beat Valve’s team in a developer only Team Fortress 2 tournament.

Valve actually made the game.

I think that’s what the kids on the drugs call “pwn3d.”

Unexpected change of plans

Looks like we’ll be leaving town either tonight or tomorrow morning for a funeral. My wife’s grandfather passed away yesterday. The funeral is near my hometown (Beaumont, TX), which is about a 5 hour drive from Dallas.

Not sure what this means for the site yet, but family comes first. I assume I will miss at least one comic update, and the podcast will either be late or not happen at all this week.

Once I get to Beaumont, I have no idea if I’ll even have internet access. I most likely won’t unless I can drive around until I find an open access point. I will have my iphone, so I can receive and reply to emails, but I don’t think I can respond to comments.

I’ll post more when I know more.

A glimpse into some of the initial mistakes I made with the first round of shirts. Nothing negative. Just learning from, and trying not to repeat them.

Podcast 14 “Male Sack” Questions

Eli’s been sick, so I don’t know when we’ll be recording. Assuming it’s Monday night, get your questions in ASAP.

You can suggest a general Topic for discussion:

  • These can be non-geek related
  • the idea is to get us to tell stories related to the topic

Links for discussion:

  • Did you see this link? IT R LOLZ!

Actual “Male Sack” questions:

  • What was your best, worst, favorite whatever, etc.
  • How many _____ have you _____ed, etc.
  • These can be non-geek as well.

The main thing I want to do with Podcast #14 is take the “coming up with ideas” out of our hands since we seem to do better when we don’t know the agenda ahead of time. The more we plan, the less natural it seems. Typically the funniest stuff happens when we turn the recorder off.

Iron Man and Cape 4

You’ll be hearing a LOT from me about Iron Man (and probably seeing a couple more comics on the subject) so I won’t bother with a long review.

Here’s a short one instead: It is the best comic book movie to date. They got EVERYTHING right. Casting was perfect. RDJ is Tony Stark. The effects were perfect. Gadget porn galore and CGI so believable you never noticed it. The balance of action to story was perfect. No drawn out origin, no side love story, no emo. They got him in the suit, he had two fights, it was over and you wanted more. Brilliant.

I’m not saying it was the best movie of all time (I am). I’m saying in leu of all turds Marvel has dropped recently (Daredevil, Punisher, Blade 3, other Punisher, Elektra, FF1, FF2, Hulk, etc, etc) Iron Man just got it right. And get this… I NEVER liked Iron Man in the comics. I left that movie with a thirst for more of the source material. That is what a great comic book movie should do: serve the die hard fans, while equally bringing new ones to the franchise. Well done, John Favreua, Robery Downey Jr., Marvel, et al.

Here’s an even shorter review from Josh:
