I show you something wonderful, you talk about LOST.
Sigh.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
The Penny Arcade scholarship has been around for like, two years.
I just started listening to the podcast. I want that piano version. So I'm not sure if you know the PA Scholarship has been around, but it has.

speaking of jazz versions of songs, have you heard of the lullaby versions of metal and rock albums?

wow, i should listen first, and post later.

man, your whole college thing has me thinking.
I'm in a different situation. I'm in college cause it was "the thing to do". My parents are footing the bill, and I'm here, still with no idea what I want to do with my life, or my academic career. I'm undeclared, and have no idea what to study or get a degree in. People ask "what do you like" or "what do you enjoy doing" and I'm pretty sure dicking around with friends and the internet isn't a job. (also, I hate the school I'm at, but I have no real reason to leave, since I don't have a major that I could pursue somewhere else.)
Ever since the middle of high school, my grades went to shit cause I just stopped caring. I didn't care about improving myself academically (fantastically, perhaps. you never know when ninja skills and martial arts skills and stuff like that would come in handy, but that's all fantasy for me.) I didn't care about getting validation, since I'm a self deprecating prick anyway. I even stopped caring about appeasing my relatives. Everyone else I know seems set on what they want to do in life, and I'm lost. I'm seen as "the lucky one" who wasn't really pushed to do anything in life, and I can't just blame other people for how I am. I'd do anything to find a purpose in life.
So I'm in school cause really, I've got nothing else better to do. Maybe, on some off chance, I'll find a passion and go on my merry way in life. But it's sorta hard to find a calling when you're untalented at everything.

I've cheated a dollar store once. I had a dollar, bought a coke, it cost a dollar +, I put the coke back, the cashier sold it to me anyway. not really exciting.

bruce campbell, in his memoir, talked about how he painted his car with house paint as a teen.
bob saget is the narrator on HIMYM. and he's been dirty for a while. his audience was always horrified

adam baldwin obviously made a deal with joss whedon for the power of a vampyre.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
some would say Angel was better than Buffy. especially near the end of both series.
I heard a comparison recently. They compared Buffy to TNG, and Angel to DS9. I didn't watch enough DS9 to know if that comparison is apt.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
best of both worlds part 1 and 2. shame, joel.
Wow, I actually grew up (not really. i was old enough) with Buffy and Angel. I was sorta freaked by Buffy, and I stopped while my aunt kept watching. I was young and scared. I think I stopped mid season one, but went back a few times during the series. musical, fuck yeah. maybe it's cause I didn't know about the movie until i saw parts of it on Fox. I started watching Angel in season 5 with Spike, since another one of my Buffy entries was the last season. <3 Faith.
The Chuck pilot made me ill. Just pirate it and watch it. I saw it before I saw Firefly, so I had no love for Jayne at the time. as a geek, the show made me want to renounce this title I have bestowed upon myself.
speaking of Danny Devito, have you seen "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"? It's not bad. It's like a dirtier, crueler, filthier Seinfeld.
sorry for wall spamming, HE.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Bones == $1
cmon, everyone knows that…
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Josh and Eli are huge "Sunny" fans. I've yet to see it. Its on the list. Were you liveblogging the podcast on the comments? Thats a new invention all together.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Yeah thats pretty cool.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I think what youre doing is the ideal use for college. If you dont know what you want out of life, college is the great place to find it if only because you are exposed to so many things and different kinds of people.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Thats what Im saying. Bill= $100, Large = $1000
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Thats a very fair comparison because Buffy was superior to Angel, but Angel explored elements of story and character that buffy never touched. it came into its own after a couple of seasons and took on its own life.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Great podcast as usual keep up the good work
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
i guess what i was trying to say in the podcast is that if you want something then you and get it (i.e. passion)
if you are not sure what you want well to be honest there is no time frame that says you must get it by a specific date. society has these so-called deadlines for things but i'm 31 and just now hitting a good stride of what i enjoy…including this podcast.
find what makes you happy and make sure you will enjoy it and then beat the living shit out of it for the rest of your life and live happy…
-two cents
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Yeah, "Prairie doggin it" is from Rat Race. I thought it was a good movie. It had 3 Academy Award winning actors in it!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I'll forgive you the B5 trash-talk because the fan-service in this episode was spectacular!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
TNG mostly got better as it went along, but other than the finale the last season was ridiculous. Data becoming possessed and wearing a mask, Bacarly devolving into a spider (humans are not evolved from f*@^ing spiders), Worf is moving between parallel realities, the Enterprise becomes conscious (while insane stuff happens on the holodeck), the last Wesley Crusher episode, Data has crazy dreams where he eats Troi, who is a cake. All that happened in the last season.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Good job, guys and girl. Maybe not as strong as some of the others (I never cried), but long enough to make up for it. Thanks for the LOTR voices, I'd happily listen to entire podcast of just voices, primarily Frodo and Sam, but throw in some Rambo, Joel's Mom, and 30's News Talky to break it up.
If you ever make that podcast, I could coast on it for years, never having to listen to another podcast – I'd just annoy my coworkers, giggling and crying every day.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
total agreement on your answer(s?) to the startrek question season 6 and 7 are like drugs to me and I too feel like that series is a metaphor for life. I don't think I qualify as a trekkie, except for maybe TNG
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Yes! Liveblogging. That sounds much better than wallspamming.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I guess the new elements made me really like Angel. I don't remember much of Buffy, but I'm sure the best season of Buffy and the best season of Angel could battle, and I SUPPOSE to most people, Buffy would win. But not in my heart.
I'm still pissed those Buffy sing alongs got shut down by Fox.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I used to think a dimebag was a dime worth of weed, or perhaps the amount of weed that can be shaped into a dime.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
And still managed to suck.
No, I don't remember the movie in a good light, and I refuse to see it again. My film teacher in High school seemed to love the film, and harped on one good review it got in the papers. He made us watch it.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I had already posted this reply elsewhere, but it belongs here I suppose
Here are some of the current "casting rumors"
http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2008/01/07/28227-...
oh, and might I add the Hobbit will be a two part film. Both parts will be filmed silmultaneously, and will be released whithin a year of eachother…if it happens, and if it doesn't we can all march upon the gates of warner bros. with an army equivalent to that of the darklords forces in nirnaeth arnoediad, ha.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Thanks!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I certainly appreciate it.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
A dime worth of weed probably isnt even illegal.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
No DeVito!?
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Also, if She-ra Leboofs is Bilbo, I quit.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
There is a special category of Trekkie just for TNG fans. You dont need anything else.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
GOD HELP ME, I WILL MAKE YOU CRY!!!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Ok, Zac, you are describing many of my favorite moments. "Masks" was one of those great oddball episodes that was self contained on the ship. Everyone almost dies because Data and the computer are puting on a play. Data as Masaka was tits. In the evolution episode there was a thin explanation for why people devolved into spiders and lizards. Something about something something. I wished we would have seen Picard as a lemur.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I never actually saw it. Maybe I should check it out.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
locutus episodes: best of both worlds part 1 and 2
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
agreed, I was rather annoyed upon hearing that anyone would even suggest having him play Bilbo, but the idea of Hellboy as Thorin was ammusing.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Hasn't that been done as a lol-picard?
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
so there's a good chance Rick himself might have been rickrolled.

That guy who built the suicide robot, he's 81 and it happend literally an hours drive from my doorstep, the kicker is he downloaded the plans from his archaic computer…
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I can't get Rolltube to work.
This is a sad day in rick rolling. The video is "not available" when I know it is!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I wouldn't. It's a pretty terrible movie. Very lowbrow slapstick stuff.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Im such a tool for forgetting that.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Thus Skynet was born.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Damnit.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Thanks so much for the shameless fan service. You said my name a million times and everyone thought my question (about buffy) was worth vigorous discussion. I learned a lot and now I'll have to start in season two like you recommended. I like how much your Buffy discovery stories reminded me of the masturbation discovery stories from the lost lunchcast. Oh, you also have me watching Galactica, too.
As far as the Elil's grandma issue: It's not really about Eli's grandmother anymore. It's just about that voice and trying it in different strange combinations. It's a meme now. Memes are cold, cruel, impersonal, and hilarious. We've been doing that voice in my group (because I do it okay, myself) and several of my friends have reported collapsing laughing when a random Mexican makes an otherwise innocent statement. My friend works at a pet store and this Mexican lady apparently exclaimed "I'm so scared!" when confronted with a snake, and everyone was inappropriately amused.
On to make fan-requests for the next episode, yay!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Jesus kinda sounds like Killface from Frisky Dingo (awesome show by the way). If he had a British accent, it'd be great!
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
HE Podcast, Buffy, BSG, Masturbation? Youre on the right path.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Hmmmm…. I thought he sounded like an Xtacle.
